September always feels like a natural reset. The long days of summer slip away, and suddenly there’s structure, cooler mornings, and the urge to start fresh. For me, it’s the perfect time to get back into routine, reset my health habits, and prepare for the season ahead. Here are some of the small but powerful changes I make each September to feel Mush better.
1. Protect your routine
I run a busy business, and if I don’t block out time for workouts in my diary, the time gets swallowed up by meetings. I treat them like non-negotiable appointments. For me, that’s 2–3 weights sessions, 1–2 reformer Pilates classes, and a Peloton ride each week.
2. Hydration made simple
Staying hydrated is essential, but I find I drink more when it feels enjoyable. I keep a 2L glass bottle filled with filtered water and add cucumber, lemon, or frozen berries for flavour. My rule is to finish it by the end of the day.
3. Daily dry skin brushing
As the weather shifts, my skin gets drier. I use a copper bristled dry skin brush (I love the one from Healf) before showering to boost circulation and keep skin soft.
4. Immune support is non-negotiable
September is the start of cold season, so I make Chaga part of my daily ritual. Our Mush liquid Chaga is organic, dual-extracted, alcohol-free, and so easy to add into a matcha, coffee, or smoothie. At 2ml a day, it’s my go-to for immune support and antioxidants.
5. Stock the freezer
I keep organic fruit, veg, and herbs in the freezer. They’re picked at peak nutrition, last longer, and make quick meals so much easier. Frozen berries, spinach, and herbs are my staples.
6. Morning walks
Every day I aim for at least 15–20 minutes outside in the morning. It helps regulate circadian rhythm, supports sleep, and clears my head for the day.
7. Gut health matters
Around 80% of our immune system lives in the gut, so looking after it is key. I take Symprove daily and love Freja’s bone broth powder - it’s nourishing for the gut, a great source of protein, and easy to turn into soup with leftover veggies.
8. Think protein and fibre
Everyone focuses on protein (I aim for 30g per meal), but fibre is just as important (I aim for 10g per meal). Together, they balance blood sugar, keep you fuller for longer, and support gut health. Simple swaps like adding beans to stews, leaving skins on potatoes, or sprinkling flax seeds on porridge all add up.
For me, September isn’t about overhauling everything, it’s about small daily habits that add up to big changes. If you’re looking for one thing to prioritise, start with immune support. Our Mush Chaga is the product I won’t go without this time of year.
